Dahi Puri Recipe | दही पुरी चाट

Dahi puri chaat recipe | Dahi puri is a popular street food from Bombay. Dahi puri is very similar to the pani puri recipe. We just add Dahi and some chutney in place of pani(flavored water). It is a flavor bomb and gives you different flavors in a single bite. You will get the sweetness from red chutney, sourness from Dahi, and tanginess from imli and green chutney.

Dahi puri is also known as sev puri, Dahi batata puri. Dahi is the Hindi name of yogurt. We used chilled and fresh yogurt for this recipe. Then we use two types of chutneys red chutney Imli Chutney | Sweet And Tangy Tamarind Chutney(made with tamarind) and green chutney (made with coriander and mint leaves). Then we use some boiled potatoes inside the puri.

Puri is a crispy shell made with wheat and semolina. It is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can make these puries, and chutneys at home or just buy them from the market. When you prepare everything then assemble the puri and serve them as soon as possible. Because if you keep them for a minute they will become soggy because of the moister.

For easy making, make the chutney or puri a day before and keep the chutney in the fridge and keep the puri in an air-tight container.

INGREDIENTS

For stuffing

  • 5 to 6 boiled potatoes
  • half onions
  • 4 green chilies
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp black salt
  • For green chutney– Coriander leaves 1 cup
  • half cup mint leaves
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp back salt
  • 2 tbsp roasted peanuts
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 10 to 20 ml water
  • For dahi puri– one bowl yogurt
  • red chutney
  • pomegranate seeds
  • coriander leaves
  • sev(fried gram flour vermicelli)
  • chaat masala

Dahi puri / Sev puri Recipe

Take some boiled potatoes. Mash them a bit. Then add chopped onions, green chilies, and coriander leaves.

After that add salt as per your taste. Add red chili powder, cumin powder, and black salt. Mix it well. This potato mix is also used for making pani puri. Take some dahi or whisk them well. Keep them in the fridge.

Now for green chutney, you need some coriander leaves and mint leaves. You can also use only coriander leaves if you don’t like mint. Then add chilies, salt, cumin powder, black salt, and peanuts. Add lemon juice, ice cubes, and water. Grind it and the green chutney is ready. Store this in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.

Take a puri, make some gap in between. Now add 1 tbsp potato mix. Add dahi(yogurt). Add green and red chutney. Add some pomegranate, and coriander leaves.

Garnish it with some sev or chaat masala. Make all of them like this and enjoy. Serve it as soon as possible.
