Italian Ladyfinger Biscuits Recipe

Ladyfinger Biscuits Recipe | Italian Ladyfingers Recipe | These Italian ladyfinger biscuits are sponge-like biscuits that are perfect to soak liquor. We use them for tiramisu or some other desserts like trifle etc. Or you can also have this with a cup of coffee. It is a very soft and delicate biscuit. It is spongy from the center and crisp from the outside.

You can easily buy them from the market. But the homemade version is the best one. And it is very easy to make at home. Ladyfinger Biscuits are made with eggs, flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and sugar.

First, we need to incorporate some air into egg whites. Then whisk some yolks with sugar. after that combine everything. And pipe the batter in the shape of a finger. Bake them for 15 to 20 minutes. It is also called sponge cake biscuits.

  • 2 eggs at room temperature
  • 7 to 8 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 5 to 7 drops of vanilla
  • half tsp baking powder
  • 6 to 7 tbsp refined flour
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • a pinch of salt

Homemade Ladyfinger Biscuits

First, you have to separate the egg yolks from the whites. Carefully do this process.

Now add 1 tbsp sugar at a time and whisk the egg whites. Here I am adding 4 to 5 tbsp sugar. Whisk it for 10 to 12 minutes until it holds the shape. Whipped egg whites have to hold the shape like this.

Now add sugar and vanilla to the yolk. Whisk it until it turns light yellow. Here I added 3 tbsp sugar. After that add the yolks to the whipped whites.

Add baking powder and flour. Add some cornstarch. Mix it with light hands. The batter is ready. Pour the batter into a piping bag.

Take a baking tray, and grease it with some oil. Now pipe the batter like this. Dust some icing/powdered sugar. Bake them for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 or 190 degrees Celsius.

After that, allow it to cool down completely. That’s it, it is ready.
